ThawDay Connector

ThawDay answers one question: when do I do what, so the turkey is ready on time? Give it a weight and a dinner time. It hands back dates.

Every date comes from USDA charts. Nothing is saved.

What it does

Builds a full timeline: buy, thaw, brine, oven, sides, rest.
Looks up a thaw time by weight and method.
Looks up a roast time by weight.

The three tools

Plan the turkey timeline: the full dated plan for one dinner: buy, thaw, brine (if brining), oven in, sides, rest.
How long to thaw: fridge days or cold-water hours for one weight. Give a cook date and it says when to start.
How long to roast: the USDA time at 325°F for one weight. Give a dinner time and it says when the bird goes in.

All three tools only read. They change nothing and save nothing.

How the plan works

Fridge thaw uses the USDA chart. The plan takes the top day.
Cold water takes 30 minutes per pound of bird.
The roast step uses the USDA unstuffed chart. This version plans unstuffed birds only. It starts from the middle of the band.
Brining adds one row: start 24 hours before the oven.
Sides and rest steps are kitchen practice, not USDA.
Clock note: your dinner date and time are read in your local time, just as you gave them. ThawDay checks the time now on its server clock, which runs on UTC. Without your time zone, it only calls a step past once that step is past in every US time zone, so a dinner later today is never called past early. If your assistant passes your time zone, your local time is used exactly.

You tell it

Weight: 8 to 24 pounds.
Dinner date and time.
Frozen or fresh.
Brining, yes or no.
Time zone (optional): pass it, and steps are judged against your exact local time.
